May indulges us with the second Stick It On bank holiday all-dayer of the year, three cheers for May. Our special guests for the day include Michael Fielding, who is perhaps better known as Naboo from the cult comedy series ‘The Mighty Boosh’. Michael will be appearing as himself on the day and taking up position behind the decks for our listening pleasure. Apparently he has something of a penchant for rinse-out and so should fit into the day rather nicely.

Back in the seventies I was lucky enough to be at the Sex Pistols’ first gig, see the Carpenters live, have lunch with David Hockney and Elizabeth Frink and for a short time study in Paris. In those days I was totally green in the culinary sense, I liked my food but I was very soon out of my depth. It was there in Paris that I had my first artichoke, fish soup and rouille and steak tartare. Of course I took to it comme un poisson à l’eau. If only I had bothered to learn to speak yer actual French eh.

The Artists Open Houses offer a fantastic opportunity for visitors to see artwork displayed in a domestic setting and to buy affordable work direct from local artists and makers. Entry is free and visitors are able to view the studios, homes and gardens of the artists of Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas. As well as painting, printmaking and sculpture, the houses displayed a wealth of ceramics, furniture, jewellery, stained glass, furnishings and textiles. Most Open Houses belong to a Trail, in which the houses are grouped within easy walking distance of each other. A number of houses also served tea and cake.
