Rizzle Kicks + The Last Carnival @ Latest Music Bar - Tuesday 9th February 2010

Technically, Rizzle Kicks was founded in about 1996, when both members, in their miniature form, used to play together, round Rizzles aunties house. It wasnt until 8 years later when the pair re found eachother, after both moving to Brighton and joining the local Sunday league, by facing eachother head on in a football match. 4 years later, they ended up going to the same college, and one day when Rizzle got Sylvester to Lalala all over a track, he then realised that the kind of style Sylvester had fitted in nicely with the sound that was growing.Meanwhile, after only meeting him through the offer of studio time, Rizzle realised that his friend SW1 (greenfinger), had been knicking all the accapellas from his tracks and making bangin remixes. <g:venue_description>ABOUT LIFE:“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it...”FERRIS BUELLERSince opening to great acclaim in August 2009, LIFE has quickly become the most exciting new club/bar on Brighton seafront.Fully re-fitted with a state of the art lighting system, a pumping sound rig, and a stunning new decor that makes the most of the venue’s unique triple-arch layout, LIFE aims to offer a touch of quality to Brighton’s vibrant scene. By night, we offer the finest club sounds you’ll hear on the seafront, featuring everything from alt.dance to indie, disco, breaks and electro, courtesy of some of Brighton’s best-loved promoters (see below for our full weekly line-up). Meanwhile, our beach-facing bar has rapidly established itself as THE place to kick back and lap up the surroundings, serving a range of lip-smacking stonebaked pizzas, gorgeous salads and delicious tapas. In our opinion, it’s the best bar food you’ll find on Brighton beach.Watch this space for news of upcoming events, drinks deals, and much more – we’ve got some very exciting announcements coming up soon….***WHAT THE PRESS SAY:"Wow, they’ve made a great job of Life, haven’t they? It works better as a beach bar, better as a club and now seems like the venue with the most potential in the city..."SOURCE MAGAZINE"The venue formerly known as Arc, not only has a new layout and a new atmosphere but a whole new lease of life. With a bar on the seafront terrace, a new central DJ booth and heaps of space to lounge about in, you'd be daft not to try it…"YOU GOT PAPPED MAGAZINE"If you like your evenings to involve singing and dancing in equal measure then Hold Up remains a classic night out. Pitched squarely at lovers of indie and indie-dance, the DJs spin the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Modest Mouse, Foals, Hot Chip, Kings of Leon and older classics like The Smiths and The Cure. With the revamped club looking great but maintaining the old nook-and-cranny feel you can either throw yourself into the dance floor melee or go and chill out on a sofa and hum along, the choice is yours..."XYZ MAGAZINE"Already firing on all cylinders, the Maxxi Soundsystem is definitely helping put the old Arc on the map. All the best disco-tipped DJs join forces for an outdoor party – what’s not to like? "SOURCE MAGAZINE***WEEKLY CLUB NIGHTS @ LIFE:MONDAYS STAMPEDEBuy some drinks, get stamped, get free drinks!£Free / £1 / £2TUESDAYS THE VICE SOCIALEveryone's doing it! A strict door policy, especially at weekends, helps to maintain the desired atmosphere, although that changes from night to night thanks to a highly varied range of music, stretching from indie to RnB to disco. The Buddha is also renowned for its late-night sessions, kicking off at 3am and Friday and Saturday, now a well-established mecca for Brighton’s party-loving creatures of the night.</g:venue_description>

We are delighted to welcome them back to Richmond with two major productions from the Russian classical repertoire. In complete contrast, The Nutcracker tells how little Clara and her Nutcracker Prince defeat the armies of the mouse-king and embark on a magical sleigh-ride to the Kingdom of Sweets, where they meet the Sugarplum Fairy, dancing snowflakes and a whole host of delightful characters.
World music sensation, Israel's Yasmin Levy, has mesmerised audiences around the world with her deeply spiritual and moving renditions of songs from her Judeo-Spanish heritage. Following in the footsteps of her musicologist father Yitzhak Levy, she is a champion of Ladino, the ancient language of the Sephardic Jews that is now facing extinction. With her full band playing both modern and ancient instruments, she fuses Spanish flamenco, jazz and Middle Eastern music together to bring this ancient music to life. Standout tracks on her fourth album Sentir include Ladino ballad Una Postora and a Spanish version of Leonard Cohens Hallelujah. http://www.yasminlevy.net/For more information and high res photos please contact:Laurence Hill 07790 363139 laurencehill@ntlworld.comBrighton Dome Box Office, 01273 709709
Listings from brightonlife.com

As such it attempts to welcome the many diverse and interesting people who make up the community in Kemp Town to join the Church both for worship and for the social life which it has to offer. The people who attend worship in the Church come from many different traditions – some have been born into the worshipping community at St. George’s whilst others have come from many different parts of the United Kingdom, and some from very different parts of the world. They bring with them not only glimpses of different Anglican traditions, but also the rich heritage from different denominations such as the Methodist Church and the Roman Catholic Church. They have found their home here in the church family at St. George’s.</g:venue_description>

Nazareth went from strength to strength supporting Deep Purple on tour, and with their 3rd album spawned two Top Ten hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy". Possibly their biggest hit to date was the Everly Brothers cover "Love Hurts", released as a hit single in the UK and in the U.S., where it went platinum. <g:venue_description>Brighton's leading independent nightclub is what they say - As with most of the clubs on the beach front, the Honeyclub doubles as a bar during the day with plenty of tables outside. But it's what goes on at night is more interesting. On Saturdays you can get a taster for what will be going on later from the Juice 107.2 live transmission. (Honey Club LIVE 8-10pm) Large downstairs dancefloor with a gallery level stuck up round the top. Saturday nights are tipped as being the best in town.
AKA AKA ROAR is the newest club night to hit Brighton. Amid the rapid commercialisation of dubstep, we are looking towards those artists who are developing the sound and its related sub-genres. With dubstep being heavily influenced by 2step we feel its important to look back as well as forwards and dig out those artists and sounds that made the genre what it is today. More than being just another dubstep night, we look to the broader genre for inspiration. Dubstep has moved on and whether you call it funkstep future garage melodic dub or even techno we love it and we think you will too!2 before 12, more after
Listings from brightonlife.com

Bill Kenwright follows up his recent critically acclaimed revivals of Oscar Wildes plays with Trevor Baxters adaptation of this celebrated story.Fresh from success in Any Dream Will Do and the title role in Joseph in the West End, the multi-talented Lee Mead makes his comedy debut starring as Lord Arthur. Opposite him, an all-star cast is led by the legendary Gary Wilmot (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Me and My Girl), Kate OMara (Dynasty, Bad Girls), David Ross (The Green Green Grass), Derren Nesbitt (Special Branch, Where Eagles Dare) and Louisa Clein (Judge John Deed).Lord Arthur Savile is deliriously happy: a pillar of Victorian society, hes on the verge of marriage to the lovely Sybil. Then an encounter with a clairvoyant reveals that he is destined to commit murder, and Arthur decides that to protect his future wife, he must commit this bloody deed before he marries. As he sets about deciding which of his family and friends could be most conveniently eliminated, chaos predictably ensuesThis delightfully daffy comedy has a deceptive vein of black humour, sprinkled with Wildes inimitable one-liners.
Listings from brightonlife.com
