Many people would cycle if it were safer to do so and this would have tremendous benefits. For example:
Improving physical health
Improving mental health
Reducing pollution
Reducing CO2 emissions
Reducing traffic congestion
Reducing road accidents
Reducing household expenditure on fuel and car maintenance

Or they could use it to get the homeless off the streets, or something less irritatingly middle class wankery.
how cann this be echo-friendlie?!?
You stupid cycling nimrod.
If the group got over 1000 people, I'd re-use the concrete to build a large waste incinerator in Queens Park.

And as if some council bod is gonna go "Oh lordy, look at the size of that facebook group, lets build loads of cycle lanes"
You stupid cycling nimrod.

yes sixus, but they only consist of white lines; kazza would like armco barriers nailed to teh floor
A white kerb instead of a white line would be good.
although your stressing of the colour white might shade the opinion of the multiculturist brigade
may i suggest a non-denominational shade of khaki; or even better, seeing as it's brighton - pink

Please bear in mind that the most dangerous cycle lanes are the ones along the seafront, sharing the pavement rather than the road.
But what winds me up more is the how these serial road abusers (who wouldn’t think twice about running an old lady down on the lights if it meant not breaking their cycling momentum) consider themselves so self-righteous about everything. Yes, you’re not using petrol. Well done. But that dosen’t give you the right to behave like a cunt.
Cycle lanes my arse.
But I'm not too happy about being in agreement with Matthew Parris

As I said, a curb between the cycles and cars would be good and would make it [nearly] impossible for cars to park in the cycle lane (as they do along Lewes Road).

Is this your "letter to the Argus" U99?
i must say i'm flattered kazza; someone taking a commonsense attitude to teh cycling pressure massif
basically if you want parity with other road users then it's high time for a licence, registration and taxes

Would this narrow the cycle lane or the car lane?
