Hey,

This year I am trying to raise money for Childreach international. The main challenge I am doing is climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, but as well as this I will be doing many other events and running fundraising ideas such as this raffle.

The bed is amazing, hand made by Earthgiven. There are links to everything involved on this website. Please do have a look even if you dont wish to have a chance of winning the bed or donating to the cause.

This month, we’ve got a very special Christmas present for you...

On Friday 16th December, get to the Hope, Queens Road, Brighton for a night of Christmas celebration, music and merriment – and it’s all for an amazing cause.

All proceeds from this event will go straight to ‘INTO Giving’ (registered charity number: 1126262) which was established in 2008 to help fund educational projects in impoverished and disaster-stricken parts of the world.

Most recently, INTO Giving have been committed to raising the funds to complete a school/ community centre in Lusaka, Zambia:
www.into-corporate.com/en-gb/about-into/into-giving/i-cco-in-zambia.aspx

Acts include the fabulous talents of…

All bands will be getting into the Christmas spirit, performing some well-known (and not so well-known) Christmas covers, as well as some songs we all know and love mixed up with their own material.

After the bands there will be dancing ‘til late with a festive DJ set and some people will be going home winners when we draw our spectacular raffle!

If Paul Daniels had his hand in an upturned Christmas hat this gig would most likely be the first thing he’d pull out of it - so pop on your Santa hat and your dancing shoes...you lucky, lucky people

[Chat] Director benefit production of The Vagina Monologues!

Hi everyone!
My name is Ana Porroche-Escudero and I am the organizer of V-Day Sussex University. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, knowledgeable and passionate person to direct our 2012 benefit production of The Vagina Monologues!
Please contact me if you are in the area and are interested or know someone who might be.
We have a wonderful group of undergraduate and postgraduate students who are incredibly devoted to the show and the V-Day cause.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Ana Porroche Escudero:)

For more info & credentials you can check my:
Sussex University online profile: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/anthropology/people/peoplelists/person/198211
Or
http://events.vday.org/2012/college/University_of_Sussex__(TVM)

What is VDay?

Every year V-Day invites activists in colleges, communities, high schools or youth groups around the world to present select benefit events (see www.vda.org) during & leading up to V-Season (February 1st - April 30th). The purpose of these events is to raise awareness about violence against women and girls as well as raise money for local beneficiaries that are working to end violence. There is no theatre producing experience necessary.

The Vagina Monologues

At Sussex we will performance The Vagina Monologues. The award-winning play is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For more than twelve years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings
not previously exposed in public.

When is V-Day?

V-Day events are usually hosted on or around Valentine’s Day (February 14th) each year. Performance events must be hosted during V-Season (February 1-April 30), while other event options like workshops or exhibitions can be held leading up to V-Season.

Advocating for Change, Leveraging Art, Social Actions and Politics

In the V-Day model, organizers use art and activism to shift traditional attitudes
towards women and violence and with one voice begin to create an environment
where women have the right to live free from violence and abuse. Performance of The Vagina Monologues is only the beginning though. In addition to the play, at V-Day Sussex we will have the space to envisioning new paths to raise awareness, educate our community and celebrate women and the end of violence. These could include workshops, campaigns or exhibitions....

I'm relocating to Brighton at the end of this year / early next year and need to find accommodation where I could live with my golden retriever Ralph. Deposit/References/Rent in advance not a problem. Would ideally like to be within walking distance of the sea but will consider anything.

Any help hugely appreciated!
