36 Hour Film Rush At The Gardner Arts Centre
Published 10th Nov 2006 by Emma Riley
On the evening of Sunday 26 November the Gardner Arts Centre will air 15 short films, each made by a team of University of Sussex students entirely over the course of the weekend as part of the Gardner?s annual 36 Hour Film rUSh competition.
The film rUSh offers students the chance to script, shoot, and edit their own films over the course of 36 Hours, starting early on Saturday morning when they will be allocated a prop and location in Brighton which must be incorporated into their 5 minute shorts. At the end of the weekend, all films will be aired in front of a judging panel comprised of representatives from both the University and some of the region?s most visible film production companies. Two prizes of ?100 will be allocated to teams on the night; one from the jury, and the other from the audience. In addition to being invaluable experience for any budding filmmakers, in previous years the event has always proven to be fun and exciting for all involved, whether they be the films? makers or the audience at the event?s finale (which packed out the Gardner?s theatre at last year?s event).
The film rUSh has already proved to be extremely popular this year, as the maximum number of participants have signed up. However, the screenings of the films are free to the public, and take place at 8pm on Sunday 26. Tickets are available from the box office both in advance and on the evening.
