?500 Prize For A Brighton Themed Cartoon Character!
Published 28th Jun 2006 by Adam Peters
Brighton based independent TV production company Impossible Television is launching a competition to find Brighton?s best cartoonists and illustrators. Over the next few days, posters and flyers will be going up in comic shops, record stores, cafes, bars and art supply shops. The aim is to find talented cartoon artists, whether professional or hobbyist, who reflect the unique spirit of Brighton & Hove.
ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE TELEVISION
Founded in 1997 as the animation division of Big Breakfast producers Planet 24 (and later part of Carlton, Granada and ITV plc), Impossible Television went independent in October 2004 and relocated from London to Brighton soon after. The company has produced a number of animated television series over the years, primarily children?s shows for Channel Five, including MechaNick, Bird Bath, the upcoming The Beeps, and the BAFTA-shortlisted TooMuchTV. Our first Brighton-based production Bird Bath utilised local voiceover talent, with over a dozen Brighton & Hove based performers, both professional and new to the industry, voicing characters in the series. Now we are looking to offer the same opportunities to local cartoonists.
ABOUT ?BRIGHTOON?
The BRIGHTOON competition invites people living or working in Brighton & Hove, or otherwise inspired by the City, to design between one and four characters (whether on paper or computer) that would suit a TV animation series for six year olds with a Brighton theme. Characters can be human, creature or object, in whatever style the artist feels would suit. Designs should be sent to BRIGHTOON, Impossible TV, 11 Marlborough Place, Brighton BN1 1UB or e-mailed to brightoon@impossibletv.com by Monday 31st July 2006. There is a prize of ?500 for the judges? favourite entry (this prize may be split between multiple winners dependent on the overall quality of entries).
