Annual Motor Sport Event Set To Be A Crowd Pleaser Yet Again!

Annual Motor Sport Event Set To Be A Crowd Pleaser Yet Again!
Published 7th Sep 2009 by Katie Booth

This Saturday (12th September) will once again see Brighton descended upon by motor enthusiasts from across the country, here to witness the annual event of the Brighton National Speed Trials.

The competition, which takes place on Madeira Drive, Brighton, will showcase a wide range of over 200 cars and 60 motorcycles, racing down a quarter of a mile course along Brighton’s historic seafront.

An entertaining day out for all the family, the world-famous Brighton National Speed Trials were started in 1905 and have been going for over 100 years – making it the longest-running motor sport event in the country!

This year also features a demonstration run by the Brooklands Napier-Railton Car, taking place around lunchtime. The car broke 47 World speed records internationally in its 1930’s hey day and is sure to be a great crowd pleaser on the day.

The event begins at 9am with some practice runs for all the vehicles, followed by the timed run for each competitor.

Spectators will be able to see a huge variety of cars and bikes racing down the course and also get close up to Racing Cars and Motorcycles whilst looking around the paddock.

The event is organised by Brighton and Hove Motor Club and sponsored by Frosts Garages. Gates open at 9am and the event finishes at 6pm.

For more information and a full entry list of the competitors, please visit the Brighton & Hove Motor Club website:
