Bad Manners Biog:
A continual high level of performance over the last 25 years rightly earned BAD MANNERS thier reputation as a magnificent live band. From their beginnings as a school group in 1976, throughout their chart successs of the 80's (11 top 20 hits) and until the present day, this merry troupe of ska troubadours have maintained a punishing live scedule and deserve their billing as 'the hardest working band on the planet'. They have been fronted by Buster Bloodvessel,a man of gargantuan proportions, one of the biggest voices in show business with the ebullient personality to match. The unparalleled longevity of their success, coupled with Buster's ability to secure a place in the nations heart and collective conciousness are a testament to his enduring self-belief and the bands 'consummate talent, unbounded energy and vigour.
That buster has achieved his notorious celebraty status whilst indulging in one of the wildest lifestyles this side of Oliver Reed's grave make him a unique icon of all that is good about being fat, famous and above all instinsically British.
Bad Manners shows are about partying, having a good time and not taking yourself too seriously, these were the values that Buster founded the band on and still holds dear today, Bad Manners will always give full measure, and unbrided enterainment and fun are guaranteed.
In the UK Buster is readily recognised as the tongue wagging, pickled onion and pork pie scoffing, can can dancing, boot wearing, bald headed singer and TV star ('Tiswas' and 25 appearances on 'Top of the Pops'), but throughout the world there are many countries that hold him in high renown and esteem and have adopted him as either a figure head of outgrageous antics, a apragon of gastronomic consumption or a minor deity with healing powers
- in the USA he is referred to as 'Lord of the Jellyfish or 'King of the Beach' in acknowledgment of his wave and crowd surfing prowess.
- the Japenese revere him as the 'Singing Sumo' or Buddha in Doc Martens' (touching hi sbelly bring you fertility and happiness).
- in Spanish he is 'El Whappo' (the beautiful one) curing sick babies and bottling local water in a late bid for beautification.
The legends and folklore that surround Buster are the stuff of ripping yarns - eating a whole cow (Argentina), a whole crocodile (Austalia), the biggest ever garlic sausage (13 feet - Germany), he then snogged a young fraulien who needed respiratory treatment.
Buster has more capacity than most for larger than life exploits, he's the only man who can endure minus 15 degrees in artic Finland in shorts, the leader of the only band to gig in Israel during the 10 day war, the only Westerner to enter a Dubai nightclub dressed as an Arab and for being the singer who notoriously bared his backside to the pope during a festival & he was given a lifetime ban from Italy and threatened with ex-communication.
Bad Manners have played all over the world at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues and continue to entertain audiences with their stunning live set including versions of their extensive catalogue of chart hits such as Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew, The Can CAn, Lorraine, My Girl Lollipop, Just a Feeling, Walking In The Sunshine and many other pop/ska classics.
This year saw the release of two greatest hits collections, and with a further compilation and brand new album due for release very soon the sucess story is set to continue. The band are undertaking a five continent world tour to promote these records and detials of all tours/gigs and album releases are available on the official website www.badmanners.net
Buster is still in great demand as a television performer and is also striving to conquer new ground with a burgeoning solo career and the invention of a new musical genre 'scrap metal' which fuses ska, rap and heavy dance/rock.
Lace up your boots, grab your partners by the neck, and let the party begin, the boys really are back in town.
