Barefoot Wine to bring Brazilian fun to Brighton Beach

Yellowave, Brighton Beach 11am – 6pm, July 9th 2011

Barefoot Wine is proud to return as sponsors of the UK Footvolley Championships, a thrilling free event to be held on Brighton Beach at Yellowave on Saturday 9th July.

This highly skilled, highly watchable sport will see teams from around the world battle it out to be crowned the 2011 Barefoot Wine Footvolley Champions. This year’s competition is set to be more exciting than ever with entries from the UK, Brazil, Netherlands and Germany amongst the teams competing.

Originating from Rio de Janeiro, footvolley is a dynamic sport that combines beach volleyball and football. Players use their head, shoulders, chest, legs and feet to pass the ball between teammates and over the net. Brazilian international footballers Ronaldo and Edinho are known to have played the sport to help refine their skills on the pitch!

As spectators watch the experts from their deckchairs, they can enjoy a free foot massage whilst sipping on a free glass of Barefoot Wine. In addition to watching the tournament reach its climax, between matches people can also get involved with a ‘keepy uppy’ competition to win delicious Barefoot Wine and exclusive merchandise, and also have a go at playing footvolley with their friends. For more information on the event please visit www.yellowave.co.uk.

Also this summer, Barefoot Wine is helping to keep the UK’s beaches barefoot-friendly by teaming up with Surfers Against Sewage. Together they will be visiting 14 beaches around the UK and ask volunteers to collect litter, in return for a free beach BBQ and Barefoot Wine. Barefoot Wine is about having fun with your friends so is the perfect fit for outdoor beach activities whether it’s watching thrilling sports or enjoying a great outdoor meal with friends.

The Barefoot Wine range has a RRP of £6.49 and the 6 varietals are Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato, Merlot, Shiraz and White Zinfandel. Barefoot Wine is now available through Tesco, Co-Op, Asda, Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s and across the convenience sector. www.barefootwine.com

About Barefoot Wine:
Barefoot Wine was re-launched in California more than twenty-five years ago, after starting off as a ‘garage wine’ in the Sixties. Its founders believed in making and selling wine that was both delicious and affordable and that could be enjoyed by everyone from first-time wine-consumers to hard-core aficionados. Barefoot Wine is the most awarded winery in the US and was introduced to the UK in 2007, immediately becoming involved in a multitude of national and local activities, staying true to its original community heritage. In addition to several years of beach clean ups with Surfers Against Sewage, Barefoot Wine UK has also supported such varied events in the UK as Footvolley Championships and Gay Pride.
