Birds Eye View Film Festival @ Duke of Yorks Picturehouse

Birds Eye View Film Festival @ Duke of Yorks Picturehouse
Published 1st Nov 2006 by Laura Winton

Birds Eye View celebrates women’s vision in film.  Innovative, intelligent, bold, dynamic, this is a groundbreaking initiative with a fresh perspective, launching new talent to challenge and to entertain. Birds Eye View is a positive response to the fact that women make up only 7% directors in what is the most powerful medium in the world.   "If this is what being a bird is, I'm proud to be one" - Joanna Lumley.

This November Birds Eye View is bringing a spectacular programme of diverse and innovative short films, originally screened as part of the sell out 2006 Birds Eye View Film Festival, to CINECITY; Brighton’s International Film Festival.

The programme, presented by award winning comedienne Shazia Mirza ("Sticks the knife into political correctness with hilarious effect. A must see" Attitude Magazine), includes an Oscar nominated animation about a badger & some nuclear missiles; a controversial Jameson Short Film award winning masturbatory puppet fantasy; and the sexy and slick winner of the Birds Eye View Film Festival Best Short Drama Award – ‘Cologne’ that tells the story of a relationship complicated by secrecy and infidelity.
