Brighton And Hove Food Festival

Brighton And Hove Food Festival
By Amanda 2nd Sep 2008

The Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of the best of food and drink available in Sussex and is growing from strength to strength in the ‘city of festivals' annual line up.

Over 50,000 people enjoyed our foodie events last year and our 2008 festival will be bigger and better than ever before, with Sussex food and drink producers and city restaurants and bars at its heart.

Main events:

  • Fish on the Front - 6 September, Brighton Marina, inner harbour, 11am-5pm. First year of this celebration of locally caught fish.
  • Big Food Debate - 11 September, 7.30pm, Thistle Hotel. Is food too cheap or too expensive?
  • Taste of Sussex Festival Weekend - 13 & 14 September, New Road, Jubilee Street, Jubilee Square and Royal Pavilion Gardens, 10am-5pm and 11am-4pm. Includes: A Taste of Sussex Festival Food and Drink Market, with 70+ local producers and top restaurant stalls; the Live Food Show, with top Sussex chef demonstrations; Kid's Kitchen with children's healthy foodie fun for kids and families; Sussex Foodie Talks & Tasters from experts in the county on cheese, wine, seafood, etc; and the Sussex Beer & Wine Fest Marquee, offering a wealth of award-winning beers, wines and ciders produced in the county.
  • Fiery Food UK - 20 & 21 September, Old Steine. A weekend of spicy food enjoyment through a special Sussex produce market. 5,000 people attended 2007 event, but this time it's right in the middle of the city.
  • Sussex and the World Food Market - 27, 28 & 29 September. First two days on Hove Lawns, followed by Monday at the last day of the races up at Brighton Racecourse. Global food market and lots of fun and games, including racing waiters!
Other key events include a programme of frivolous, fulsome, fun and filling celebrations of food and drink held by 100 independent businesses across the city and a food trail of producers and outlets in Sussex. They include: City College dinners; Book signing; many special restaurant events, special offers and festival menus; etc.

If you need a place to stay during all the festivities dont forget to check out our hotels and guesthouses pages with details of all our favourite venues
