Brighton Children's Book Festival at the Sallis Benney Theatre

Brighton Children's Book Festival at the Sallis Benney Theatre
Published 8th Mar 2008 by Laura Atkins

This year's Brighton Children's Book Festival will be held the weekend of 19-20th April 2008 at the Sallis Benney Theatre, University of Brighton and is all about 'Leaping from the Page'. We will look at ways in which children's books are extended in film, theatre, radio and TV, as well as through pop-up books, comics and illustrations.

Come and enjoy a weekend of talks, hands-on workshops, performances and screenings. Saturday is for young people 7 and up plus adults, while Sunday is for young people 13-18 and adults. Speakers range from Kitty Taylor, director of Charlie and Lola for CBEEBIES, author Nicky singer on the National Theatre adapation of Feather Boy, manga artist Kiriki Kubo and many more. There are also workshops on making pop-up books, storytelling, creating hip hop, drawing comics, and panel discussions on getting published.

Tickets are affordably-priced for individuals and families. The festival will have something for everyone - parents and children, teachers, librarians, aspiring and published authors and aritsts, and people working in digital media, film, TV and publishing - and anyone who loves children's books.

We hope you can join us!  Tickets can be purchased by clicking on the following website  www.bcbf.org.uk
