Brighton Documnetary Film Festival at The Marlborough Theatre

Brighton Documnetary Film Festival at The Marlborough Theatre
Published 7th Nov 2007 by SEE Festival

Documentary fever will once again be hitting the streets of Brighton and Hove on the 17th and 18th of November with the return of SEE, The Brighton Documentary Film Festival. SEE Festival is dedicated to everything documentary, and celebrates both existing and emerging talent, whilst also functioning as a valuable promotional tool for the film industry in the South East region.

SEE was founded by local filmmaker and director of

Back2back productions Ltd, David Notman-Watt in 2005 and is the only festival in South East England dedicated to factual filmmaking. David says “Brighton is a Creative hub, and SEE Festival showcases the fantastic documentary talent that can be found here. Within a relaxed environment you can grab a glass of wine with a director like Daisy Asquith before sitting down to listen to a Q+A session with Marc Isaacs on the inspiration behind his latest film! SEE is about creating a space that celebrates documentary filmmaking in all its glory.”

This year SEE will be showcasing the work of some of the UK’s most well respected documentary filmmakers, with a weekend packed full of screenings, seminars and special events with the leading lights in the industry, including Daisy Asquith, Marc Isaacs, David Notman-Watt, Luke Holland, Marc Francis and Jerry Rothwell.

SEE provides an unprecedented opportunity for knowledge-transfer between industry pundits and up-and-coming film-makers and this years events will include, ‘Cutting Remarks’ an editing master class, one- on- one distribution surgeries, and discussions on new ways of funding, producing and distributing documentaries in our ‘New Media Seminar.’ SEE 2007 will also be host to the launch of ‘Real World,’ an exciting new documentary production scheme for filmmakers in the South East, from the Institute of Development Studies and Screen South.

The festival creates excellent networking opportunities, and this year will feature representatives from DFG, FourDocs and Shooting People, who will be testing your knowledge with their famous Pub Quiz and Short film challenge.

SEE has already established a name as an informal, friendly, non-competitive and lively festival that promotes the art of film-making. This year the festival will continue to inspire and support a new generation of filmmakers.

SEE Festival:
Venue: The Marlborough Theatre, 4 Princes Street, Brighton, BN2 1RD
Date: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November 2007
Times: 10:00am-10:30pm (Saturday) 10:00am-10pm (Sunday)
There will also be networking opportunities in the Theatre Bar following events.
