Brighton Festival
Published 18th Apr 2007 by Matt Costello
Brighton Festival is the largest event of its kind in England. Now in its fifth decade, it has become one of the major milestones in the cultural calendar, bringing an international mix of exclusive events, world and UK premieres, special one-off commissions and endless hours of entertainment to the city by the sea.
Each year it unveils a sensational programme of theatre, dance, music, books & debate, children's and family shows and outdoor spectacle. 2007 is no different as we celebrate 41 years of top drawer arts and entertainment. There are 7 world premieres, 3 UK premieres, plus
hundreds of events from around the world, across the UK and among Brighton's own celebrated arts community.
The Festival prides itself on innovation and invention, whether it’s re-imagining the city's traditional spaces with extraordinary performances or reinventing the art of performance itself in the city’s unexplored landscapes. With bite-sized lunchtime recitals alongside big band showstoppers, the Festival ranges from intimate encounters to large-scale extravaganzas. It also caters for all ages with a strong strand of children and family friendly performance.
Brighton's reputation as England's pleasure capital stems back to its Regency heyday. What better background for three weeks of Festival fun!
Brighton Festival – stepping out and stepping up the entertainment value!
