Brightonwaves Podcast To Bring Brighton Music Scene To The I-pod Generation

Brightonwaves Podcast To Bring Brighton Music Scene To The I-pod Generation
Published 1st Mar 2006 by Rick Webber

From the end of March, brightonlife will be hosting the new BrightonWaves podcast. Featuring the best local music talent, BrightonWaves is set to become an essential download for music lovers in the city!

The 40 minute, monthly show will feature the best local talent, letting listeners hear new music across a range of genres. It will feature established Brighton names as well as new bands with their first demo tracks. It has been put together with the clear aim of getting new music heard by everyone, rather than just die-hard fans who have time to trawl the internet and small venues to search out talent.

?Brighton has loads of great venues and loads of great bands.? the producer of the podcast, Rick Webber, said at the launch ?The problem for a lot of people is that they're just names on flyers. Our show will feature the best tracks from the best bands, so our listeners will get to know the bands they love and get out to the shows knowing they're in for a great gig?.

The idea has been greeted enthusiastically by bands and venues, with some established bands promising exclusive tracks that people who download BrightonWaves will be the first to hear. The first show will be available to download from the end of March.

What is a podcast? A podcast is simply a radio show recorded as an MP3 file. You can download it and listen to it whenever you like. It will play on your computer, you can burn it to audio CD, or you can take it with you on your portable MP3 player (hence the name podcast ? though you don't have to have an i-pod to listen to it).
