Published 4th May 2010 by Matt Costello
If.Comedy Award nominee Andrew Maxwell is one of the most sought after comics in the UK and Ireland. After 10 years of solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, he will be embarking upon a national tour combining the best bits of his critically acclaimed Edinburgh performances so far. Taking in 34 dates, including three nights at London’s Leicester Square Theatre, the tour rolls into Brighton on Thursday 6 May.
‘... Andrew Maxwell sails through his set with ease.... to follow fellow Irish comedian Ed Byrne into stadium territory...’
Metro ****
Recent TV appearances include ‘Have I Got News For You’ (BBC1), ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ (BBC2), ‘Celebrity Juice’ (ITV2), ‘Argumental’ (Dave), ‘The Late Edition’ (BBC) and ‘The Panel’ RTE.
‘His writing is exquisite, cynical and insightful, he makes laughing a dirty pleasure.’
Time Out ****
Andrew is a household name in Ireland. He recorded his first live DVD for Ireland in 2008, which went straight to the top of the DVD charts. Last year he sold out a tour of Ireland, which included dates at Dublin’s Vicar Street.
‘Cracking...a gifted anecdotist...’
The Scotsman
Andrew has performed at some varied venues including Dublin’s maximum security prison ‘Mount Joy’, whilst his ensemble show Full Mooners, (past guests include Russell Brand and Eddie Izzard) was a spectacular success at a haunted theatre in Alexandra Palace and at the E4 Udderbelly as part of the South Bank Festival. For the last two years he has also organised a hugely successful comedy and music festival ‘Altitude’ in the French Alps ski resort of Meribel. It has featured performers such as Lee Mack, Rich Hall, Ed Byrne, Ugly Duckling and DJ Brandon Block amongst others.
ANDREW MAXWELL visits Komedia Brighton on Thursday 6 May at 8.30pm. Tickets are £12 / £10 available on-line at www.komedia.co.uk/brighton or from the Box Office on 0845 293 8480.
