Comic Boom At Komedia
Published 11th Apr 2007 by Chris Challis
Komedia’s brand new comedy night, Comic Boom, continues to bring you exciting new comedy without the gamble. Brighton’s own Jo Enright comperes this fast-paced quality show which runs every month, and features top stand-up Simon Evans this month.
Designed as a launch pad for the best new-ish comics in the country, Comic Boom is the brainchild of the UK’s leading comedy coach Jill Edwards, who has coached some of Britain's top comics over the last fourteen years, including Jimmy Carr and Shazia Mirza. The idea is to give emerging comic talent from across the country a platform to perform in front of audiences they might not necessarily be able to achieve at smaller clubs on the new act comedy circuit.
“A chilled-out, multiple-chuckleworthy night out. Make sure you catch the next one.” - Latest 7
Each show will feature a number of the hottest new acts around, and one well established headlining act. Simon
Evans leads the way in April. A firmly established headline
act on the circuit; Simon has performed sell out shows at the Edinburgh Festival for several years. He has many television and radio credits to his name, including writing for The Big Breakfast and hosting Radio 4’s The Way It Is, and has performed extensively on the improv circuit. He dresses smartly, uses no bad language whatsoever... and can raise an eyebrow Jack Benny would have been proud of. Food and drink will be available throughout the night, and after the show, DJs hit the decks to make sure the party continues long into the night.
COMIC BOOM! visits Komedia on Wednesday 25 April at 8pm. Tickets are £7.50/£5.50 conc. available on-line or from the Box Office on 01273 647100 (booking fees apply
