Established in October 1998 Da Doo Ron Roon is a fabalicious night of 60s femme pop, soul sirens, sister funk and chicks with licks (spanning the late 50s, right through the 60s and up to 1973), that takes place monthly @ the Komedia in Brighton.
As seen on BBC1 TV & Channel 4 TV, as heard on the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show on BBC 6 Radio & BBC Radio 4, as featured in the NME, Guardian, Time Out, The Times, The Pittsburgh (USA) City Paper & Grazia.

Da Doo Ron Ron - "the legendary 60s girl pop, soul & funk extravaganza", the NME - crown a truly fantastic 2008 which has seen the likes of Andy Smith (Portishead), Rhoda Dakar (Special AKA / Specials) and Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice) grace the Da Doo decks, by welcoming an ace brace of equally fantastic superstar guest DJs; the mighty ANDY LEWIS (PAUL WELLER BASSIST) & JON SLADE (BORN BAD) - to help celebrate the Da Doo Ron Ron 11th Xmas shindig. Andy is the bass player in Paul Weller's band, appearing on the Modfather's recent No. 1 album '22 Dreams'. He's also a recording artist in his own right - for the Acid Jazz imprint - scoring a hit single, the Northern soul-tinged 'Are You Trying To Be Lonely? with a certain Mr. Weller on vocals!, is currently producing Kevin Rowland (Dexy's Midnight Runners) and was the co-founder / (best) DJ at legendary mod club night BLOW UP.
Jon Slade co-founded and is one of the regular DJs at Brighton's 'other' best club night BORN BAD and is a member of legendary indie stalwarts COMET GAIN. And a fab 'n' gear DJ.

Regular DJs Chris 'Da Doo' King & Simon Bridger plus superstar guest DJs ANDY LEWIS & JON SLADE spin a fabalicious mix of 60s femme pop, soul sirens, sister funk and chicks with licks (spanning the late 50s, right through the 60s and up to 1973); embracing Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, Tamla Motown, Sister Funk, Jazz, Girls in the garage, 60s girl pop, Soul / Northern soul, Yé-Yé / Swingin' Mademoiselles, Latin and the occasional Ska, Country & Japanese tune.
Expect to hear the groovy likes of The Supremes, Ronettes, Shangri-Las, Chiffons, Crystals, Marvelettes, Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone, Etta James, Sarah Vaughan, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Tammi Terrell, Brenda Holloway, Dionne Warwick, Marlena Shaw, Nancy Wilson, Bobbie Gentry, Laura Nyro, Nancy Holloway, Nancy Sinatra, Petula Clark, Della Reese, Brigitte Bardot, Lesley Gore, Jacqueline Taieb, France Gall, Lulu, Cilla, Shirley Bassey, Francoise Hardy and Helen Shapiro. All spun on crackly vinyl rekkids.
