Dr Phil’s Rude Health Show
Published 22nd Apr 2010 by Matt Costello
Phil Hammond is a GP, writer, broadcaster and possibly the only comedian to have appeared at a public inquiry. He is Private Eye’s medical correspondent and a regular on Have I Got News for You, The News Quiz, The Now Show and Countdown. He is rude about everything (politicians, doctors, death, drugs, sex, himself) but in a nice way. Join him at Komedia Brighton for an irreverent night of stories, anecdotes and laughs - free swabs and sick notes for all!
‘One of the most entertainingly subversive people on the planet.’ - The Guardian
Phil qualified as a GP in 1991 and, after 10 years, switched to sexual health medicine (he currently practices at a Sexual Health Centre in Bristol). A journalist and broadcaster, he has toured the UK with “89 Minutes to Save the NHS”, and co-written a BBC 1 sitcom, “Doctors and Nurses” about the rivalry between two orthopaedic surgeons on the Isle of Wight.
‘Phil Hammond generates dozens of laughs and more ire than any amount of tentative taboo-breaching uncovered elsewhere’ - The Financial Times
Phil presented five series of "Trust Me, I’m a Doctor" on BBC2, and his book of the same name is a best-seller. He has been twice selected for the Perrier Pick of the Fringe at the Edinburgh festival and won writers' Guild and silver Sony Awards for their Radio 4 series.
‘A comedian trapped in a doctor’s body.’ - The General Medical Council
DR PHIL’s RUDE HEALTH SHOW visits Komedia Brighton on Wednesday 5 May at 8pm. Tickets are £15 available on-line at www.komedia.co.uk/brighton or from the Box Office on 0845 293 8480.
