Live Music News
Dreadzone @ Komedia
Published 3rd Nov 2009 by Komedia
Dreadzone are a fusion of technology and human rhythms; dub bass and dance beats; live guitar and bubbling electronics. They are united by energetic MCing and sweet reggae vocals, all performed by some of the UKs most talented musicians. The combination of their huge back catalogue of world-class tunes and their incendiary live show has established them over their career as one of Britain’s most exciting acts.
Now in their 17th year, Dreadzone have released five studio albums, of which Second Light was cited by John Peel as one of his top ten of all time (no less than 6 tracks from the album appeared on his annual Festival Top 50 in 1995). Their classic track Little Britain was a Top 20 hit.
“Witty, inspired soundscapes” - The Guardian
In support of their UK tour, Dreadzone have announced details of free download single. Entitled Tomorrow Never Comes, the single is released via www.dreadzonedownloads.com and is from the band’s latest studio album. Already a firm live favourite, it is being favourably compared to their biggest hit, Little Britain.
This major UK tour marks the end of a highly successful year for the band who have returned to the music scene refreshed and re-energised after the tragic death of Steve Roberts, the band‘s guitarist and brother of founder member Greg Dread, in 2006.
“One of the most interesting groups around” - The Independent
Dreadzone continue to wow fans and newcomers alike at festivals the length and breadth of the UK including Wychwood, Glastonbury, Glade, Guilfest, Maker, Endorse-It in Dorset, Solfest and Off the Tracks. They also played at festivals across Europe, including Poland, Croatia, Holland, Hungary, Spain, Turkey and Czech Republic.
Support comes from Subgiant.
DREADZONE visit Komedia Brighton on Friday 20 November at 8pm. Tickets are £14 available on-line at www.komedia.co.uk/brighton or from the Box Office on 0845 293 8480.
