Dub Pistols At Concorde 2
Published 24th Oct 2007 by Emma
UNIFY Events are delighted to present the Dub Pistols playing live at the Concorde2 on Thursday 15th November. The Dub Pistols have spent the best part of a decade at the forefront of Beats culture, adding a much needed Rock n Roll swagger to the UK's dance scene.
Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and
spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied categorisation and exceeded the highest of expectations.
Their genre-mashing abilities have led to remix work for the likes of Moby, Crystal Method, Limp Bizkit, Bono, Korn & Ian Brown, and has seen them work with hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes.
As usual support comes from some of Brighton’s most exciting up and coming talent. First up is The Gentleman’s Club, one of the cities youngest up and coming bands (members are 16 & 17 years old) playing a mix of ska and hip hop. Also on the bill are Ruderalis, another local band who play smooth wild hip hop.
UNIFY takes place on the third Thursday of every month at the Concorde2 and has so far played host to such luminaries as Brakes, The Buzzcocks, The Egg and The Cuban Brothers.
This year UNIFY has grown from being a relatively unknown local event to one of the most successful nights in Brighton. UNIFY’s reputation now proceeds its line up with regulars knowing that a UNIFY event means great music and a night to remember.
2008 looks set to continue this trend, with the calibre of artists planned for next year getting better and better – details to be announced soon!
UNIFY is a charity event supported by the trade union UNISON. UNISON represents 1.4 million public sector workers in the UK, their members are generally low paid, doing the jobs that keep the country going – hospital cleaners, street sweepers, nurses, teaching assistants, bus drivers, caretakers, community and voluntary workers etc.
Entry - £10.00 and £7.50 for NUS and UNISON members, available from Concorde2 website, Rounder, Resident, Ticketweb & Seetickets.
