Edward Aczel Doesn’t Exist - National Tour
Published 7th Sep 2011 by Matt Costello
THROUGHOUT THE UK: SEPT 15 to OCT 21 - SOHO THEATRE LONDON: NOV 18 to NOV 26

"Britain's greatest living anti-comedian" (The Guardian) reluctantly announces his first nationwide stand-up tour. Mr Aczel is attempting to demonstrate to high-powered executives across the UK how he can offer seemingly endless services to The Comedy Industry. Mr Aczel would like to state that the enigmatic title of his new show is not a comparision to any immortal and/or religious deity mythical or otherwise. It is simply shorthand for admitting that currently he is neither on any showbizness map nor any entertainment radar.
“Aczel turns unprofessionalism into an artform. A real attraction.” The Times
Edward Aczel presents an evening of moderately amusing stand-up comedy in order to gain some meaningful television exposure. Acknowledging that he has a reputation for unprofessionalism and unpreparedness, Edward has began to prepare now, for his inevitable rise to showbiz stardom, sometime soon. He has imagined a new life of TV panel shows, lavish riders, comedy masterclass leadership and commercial product endorsements, and would like to share a few of these plans with important industry people across the country.
Mr Aczel imagines that in the future, comedy impresarios are more than pleased to meet my backstage demands of boxes of kittens and staple guns; Wannabe stand-ups scramble to attend my masterclasses that reveal the secrets of his stunning mic technique; and TV executives fall over themselves to commission my series about a time travelling ACAS mediator. Mr Aczel also foresees that all this success could be ruined should The Aczel Brand be intoxicated by undertaking inappropriate product endorsements (just for the money).
Mr Edward Aczel now only speaks in the third person. Because that’s what you do, when you reach my level.
“Britain’s greatest entertainer... the future of comedy” - Time Out
"One of the most original acts in years. An hour in his company is a joy" – The Guardian
“One of the finest hours of comedy I’ve ever seen” – The New Yorker
“One of the most inventive and memorable comedians working today” – The Scotsman
“He could well be the funniest man on the Fringe” – The Herald
"The funniest thing I've ever seen" – Jimmy Carr
Edward Aczel, 44, is performing on the Fringe for the fifth consecutive year in 2011. He is a Malcolm Hardee Award Winner and BBC Comedy Award Runner Up. He’s had two sell-out runs at London’s Soho Theatre and appeared on several Radio Four shows.
