Film Focus
Published 23rd May 2006 by Brad Brasier

If the thought of cracking ?The Da Vinci Code? isn?t really flicking your film switch, check out Brighton Life?s regular film guide to ensure you find something that will.

At The Odeon & Cineworld
?X-Men: The Last Stand? promises comic book action by the bucket load but will it live up to its predecessors? Disney return with computer animated comedy ?The Wild? featuring a diverse group of actors ranging from Kiefer Sutherland to Eddie Izzard all lending their vocal talent. More cartoon antics with mischievous monkey ?Curious George? which promises to keep the kids quiet for an hour or so. Lastly, if you missed the fantastic teen noir ?Brick? at the Dukes, Cineworld have managed to bag it but be quick, it probably won?t hang around too long.

At The Duke of York?s
Ed Norton plays a cowboy obsessed drifter who impacts the life of a troubled suburban family in writer/director David Jacobson?s ?Down in the Valley?. You can also catch John Tuturro?s urban musical ?Romance and Cigarettes? starring ?The Sopranos? main man James Gandolfini and our very own Kate Winslet.

On the Small Screen
Master director Terrence Malick presents his epic take on the story of Pocahontas and the English tainting of Native Americans in ?The New World?. Jaoquin Pheonix and Reese Witherspoon spark the right chemistry as Johnny Cash and June Carter in the biopic ?Walk the Line?. Enjoy a true classic with the special edition release of ?Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid? which remains possibly the best buddy movie of all time.

Future Films
Can?t wait until November to glimpse the new Bond in action? Check out the new trailer for ?Casino Royale? online which is sure to silence those who questioned the choice of Daniel Craig. June 2nd sees the horrifying story of flight ?United 93? brought to life in Paul Greengrass? September 11th reconstruction of the plane that never reached it?s target. In August, the king of spooky twists M. Night Shyamalan (?The 6th Sense?, ?Unbreakable?) returns with a tale of an American janitor who discovers a strange girl in the swimming pool of an apartment block. If his previous four films are anything to go by, expect healthy dose of scares and suspense.
