'LEO AND ZE'
We are proud to announce the first big screen showing of this acclaimed documentary which was part of Channel 4's 'Cocaine' series.
Followed by Q&A with the director Angus McQueen and producer David Notman-Watt led by documentary director Phil Grabsky (THE BOY WHO PLAYED ON THE BUDDHAS OF BAMIYAN).
11th May / 6.30pm / Duke of York?s Cinema, Preston Circus, Brighton
EXPOSURE, Lighthouse's monthly networking event, will take place after the screening at Circus Circus (opposite the Duke of York?s).
Documentary synopsis:
'Leo and Ze' is set amidst the drug gangs of Rio de Janeiro.
Made by Brighton-based production company back2back, this film has unprecedented access to a family?s life on one of Rio?s ?favelas?. When he was a member of the slum?s drug gang, 34 year-old Ze would make up to ?400 a day before a botched robbery left him drifting between life and death. He?s now trying to get his 19 year-old nephew Leo out of the gang before he ends up dead, just like his father. In this chilling film we meet the armed gangs that control the city?s drug trade and join police as they raid the favelas - firing indiscriminately as children cycle past.
