Free Wireless Broadband Internet

Free Wireless Broadband Internet
Published 30th Apr 2004 by Laura Creasey

The recently re-vamped Sidewinder, St James?s Street, Kemp Town and Brighton?s first eco-pub, The Earth and Stars are both scheduled to start providing free internet access today to anyone with a wirelessly enabled laptop or PDA. Wireless internet access or Wi-Fi zones are proving very popular with an ever-increasing number of laptop users in the city and Brighton pub group Zelgrain already provides this free service to its customers at three of its city centre pubs: Riki Tik, The Black Lion and Grand Central. From today Kemp Towners wishing to use the facility no longer need to make a trip into the city centre. ?I know so many people who work from home or who would just like to come out of the office for a few hours and work in a pleasant environment where they can get lunch and a drink as well,? says Sidewinder Manager, Darren Elliott. ?We are lucky at the Sidewinder to have so much space, people can work comfortably plus internet access extends to the garden so you can also work outside.?

The technological wizardry that makes this service possible is provided by Brighton-based wireless specialist Loose Connection. ?We are continually researching new technologies which can enhance operational efficiency and save our clients money,? says Loose Connection?s Roger Horlock. ?In the 21st Century workers no longer need to be chained to their desks, similarly wireless networking is an attractive option to consider particularly for companies who do not own their own business premises and benefit from the roaming capability, ease of network scaleability and the freedom to transport the network to a new site.? The company are happy to provide technical support for customers on 0906 302 1044 should they experience any problems setting up. As most laptops now have wireless capability the trend for working in pubs, bars, cafes and indeed, ultimately, wherever, only seems destined to grow in popularity.
