Gaymers Cider At The Great Escape
Published 4th May 2010 by Tom Henry

Gaymers, the UK’s No 1 live music cider, will once again be at the Great Escape (13th -15th May), Europe’s fastest growing music festival.

Gaymers is the official cider of the Great Escape and will host performances at Hector’s House, one of Brighton’s best loved live music venues. The Gaymers Stage at Hector’s House boasts an intriguingly unusual line up including a Canadian folk quintet, Rock Royalty and the Scariest Band in the World* as well as exclusive performances by Band of Skulls, Kassidy and The Rural Alberta Advantage.

Hector’s House kicks things off with a bang on the opening night, welcoming schlock-rock superstars The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster exclusively to the Gaymers Stage. One of the most important bands to come out of Brighton in a generation, TEMBD‘s sound has all the visceral appeal of a trip through the Mojave desert with Hunter S. Thompson. Between bone-crunching gems like ‘Rise of the Eagles’ first time listeners should keep their eyes peeled for Victorian stage props and 50s B-movie monster make up, in what will surely be a highlight of the weekend.

Friday night will see I Blame Coco tout their ska dappled nu-rave to eager scenesters. The band are fronted by Coco Sumner who does a great job of holding together the band’s disparate influences with heart-felt vocals and a real superstar sense of performance. Come Friday night, there’ll be no hotter spot in Brighton than watching I Blame Coco with a pint of Gaymers cider.

Continuing The Great Escape’s reputation for championing new music, Band of Skulls will be smashing, snarling and ripping their way to an exclusive Saturday night headline slot on the Gaymers Stage. One of this year’s most hotly tipped acts, Band of Skulls follow in the footsteps of My Morning Jacket and The White Stripes with their swampy, stripped down blues rock. This performance is sure to turn into one of the ‘I was there’ moments of the summer so make sure you’re there to see the Skulls transform from underground favorites to surprise rock gods.

With such an exclusive and varied line up, the Gaymers Stage is set to be an essential stop on the Great Escape trail.

For a bit of pre-festival fun and the chance to win some fantastic music prizes, keep an eye out for the Gaymers Music Quiz coming soon to Facebook.
