Global Fusion Family World Music Festival
Published 12th Jun 2008 by Global Fusion
With bar, camping, festival market, food, childrens entertainment and some of the best live performers from around the world, this is one of East Sussex's best loved events. Global Fusion family world music festival with camping kicks off next Friday (20th June) on the Herstmonceux Castle Estate, with an exhilarating line up of musical talent from around the world.
Friday night brings classic reggae from Gabbidon, featuring founder members of 1980’s reggae sensations Steel Pulse, responsible for hits such as Handsworth Revolution, Ku Klux Klan and Rollerskates. Reggae legend Basil Gabbidon leads up the band, with its vibrant mix of reggae, rock and dance tunes, setting the scene for a chilled out, relaxing weekend. Bhangra Fusion giants, Kissmet, are playing Global Fusion on Saturday, one week before hitting the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury, blending Punjabi and English musical influence in their contagious music. Topping the bill on Saturday night is world renowned Daara J, flying in from Africa for an exclusive UK performance. ‘BBC World Music award winners, Daara J will have the crowd jumping with their unique hip-hop style’, says Mandy Curtis, Festival Director. ‘They are one of the most fresh, exciting bands around and their performance is mind-blowing’. On Sunday, the Anna Mudeka band will bring their soulful and uplifting sounds from Zimbabwe to Global Fusion.
Alongside these highlights are children’s entertainments, more music, DJ’s and lots more. And with one week to go until the event, the festival team at Thirty Six Hours, who produce the event, are busy: ‘Tickets are selling fast, we’ve got an amazing line-up – some great musical acts are performing at Global Fusion this year’, says Mandy.
The beautiful woodland glade on the Herstmonceux Castle Estate is quiet today, filled with sunlight and birdsong. But one week from now it will be transformed; filled with marquees, music, the smell of global food, bustling festival market stalls and happy festival goers; adults and children getting ready to enjoy a weekend of wonderful music and friendly vibes.
Tickets are still available. Adult weekend tickets (including camping) are £55 in advance (before 12 June). Children 11 and under go free to Global Fusion, young people aged 12-16 and over 60s are half price. Day tickets and one-night camping tickets also available. For information and bookings visit www.global-fusion.co.uk or call 01424 717 464.
