Guilt-free Green Christmas Shopping (brighton)

Guilt-free Green Christmas Shopping (brighton)
Published 4th Dec 2008 by Bags Of Change

Green Your Shopping - and Your Wardrobes - this Christmas.  MamaOshun and Covet are both offering discounts to members of the ethical loyalty shopping scheme Bags of Change this Christmas: simply shop with a Bags of Change bag and get up to 10% off your Christmas shopping!

On Sunday 14th December MamaOshun on Dyke Road will be hosting the first in a series of Big Clothes Swaps - where canny shoppers can recycle their wardrobes. Bring your clean clothes and swap with others. Help reduce waste and stop holding your clothes hostage!

Maya Sexton from MamaOshun says, "This is a fun, free event open to all. We'll have sewing machines available too so people can revamp and embellish their old clothes - plus three expert advisers on hand to give style tips. Charlie's a fabulous seamstress, vintage style adviser Gay will help us with the restyling, and Christine is a fashion designer who can tell us all about the latest trends."

MamaOshun is also keeping it local this Christmas, with a range of Christmas hampers filled with only Brighton & Sussex goodies - all the contents are from within a 50-mile radius, even the bubbly! Other Christmas gift ideas include recycled wax candles (free to those who bring in their own old candles), 'nearly new' clothing, and retro recycled glassware from Devon.

Elsewhere in Brighton, Covet on Gloucester Road, is a women’s boutique championing British labels and Fairtrade collections. This season features designers including Margaret Howell, Naughty and Metallicus, and a fabulously cosy knitwear range from pioneering Fairtrade fashion company People Tree.
