Ikea Helps Flatpack Brighton

Ikea Helps Flatpack Brighton
Published 28th Feb 2005 by Gary PleeceAdmin

Retail giant Ikea has agreed to help Flatpack Brighton, one of Brighton's best known new companies. A deal with the Croydon Ikea store means Flatpack Brighton can keep up its high standards of customer service even though it is forecast to handle half a million pounds-worth of Ikea goods in 2005.

Flatpack Brighton has captured the imagination of local people with its Ikea shopping service and its slogan 'I Go To Ikea'. It was set up by local entrepreneurs, Gary Pleece and Mark Walker in 2003, after taking too many shopping trips up the M23. They saw a chance to build a business that would take the hassle out of buying the popular Swedish flatpack furniture.

The business has been a tremendous success and they regularly spend up to ?10,000 in Ikea every week. As Gary says, this has created a lot of interest from Ikea. "We've been told that we are the biggest customer at the Ikea Croydon store. All the staff know us and we've now been approached by the store's business manager. We had a really great meeting and came up with a number of ways to help each other. The details are confidential but it means we can handle much greater volumes whilst concentrating on the local, friendly service that our customers want."

"Ikea knows there are others who have copied our idea, but it has chosen to talk to us, which is a great endorsement for all our hard work."

Flatpack Brighton has also seen a big growth in its assembly business and is dealing with more and more property developers and landlords. They can order a whole kitchen or a flat full of furniture in one go and have it delivered and assembled at a very competitive rate.

You can place your order with Flatpack Brighton by calling Gary on 0845 430 8691, or use the online ordering form at www.flatpackbrighton.co.uk.
