I?m Worried I?m Starting To Hate Almost Everyone In The World
Published 3rd Jan 2007 by Chris Challis
Mark Watson has already won the if.comeddie panel prize and been twice Perrier nominated Lauded by critics and loved by Edinburgh Festival devotees (this year he hosted literary workshops with an aim to write a novel based entirely on audience suggestions), he has also been nominated for the South Bank Show, Time Out Magazine and Barry Awards in the last year alone. ‘First class stand-up’ - Metro
Mark Watson broke onto the comedy circuit by winning the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award 2002, and second prize in So You Think You're Funny? He is also a published novelist: Bullet Points came out in February 2004 to unanimously favourable reviews. It was commended in the Best First Novel category of the Commonwealth Writers Prize, and Mark is now working on a screenplay of the book commissioned by Ugly Duckling Films. Another novel is coming soon! Mark has also worked with Hat Trick Productions on a sitcom commissioned by BBC1, and recently recorded a pilot for Radio 4 for a comedy-drama hopefully to be commissioned next year.
Previous shows have featured Mark being onstage for 24 hours, another saw him charting the previous 2005 years with a minute dedicated to each. Fret not, this show is shorter, and sees Mark use the seven deadly sins as a framework to viewing the modern world we live in. The man is, without doubt, a pure comic genius.
MARK WATSON visits Komedia on Thursday 25 January at 8pm. Tickets are £10/£8 conc.
