?Their debut "Overgrown Eden" should cause quite a stir.? ? Kerrang! Magazine
Every once in a while something comes along and punches you in the face so hard, that you don?t even know what has hit you. This is the power of InMe, a trio from Essex (close to London), whose performance at the Hope & Anchor back in March 2001 was so strong it caught the attention of the Music For Nations A&R department.
In a twist of fate, whilst going to see the headlining act, MFN?s A&R dept caught InMe playing the very last song of their set ? ?Lava Twilight?, which had run late due to a broken cymbal. It was the pure energy, talent and uniqueness of these three teenagers that literally cemented their future as a new signing to independent label Music For Nations.
Having known each other for the majority of their lives (Dave McPherson and Joe Morgan met at school when they were only 4 years old), it was destined that the three members of InMe were always going to play and write music together. Dave and Joe started jamming in 1994 when they were just 11 years old, but it wasn?t until 1996 at the age of 13 that self-taught guitarist Dave McPherson, Grade 8 Violinist and bassist Joe Morgan and drummer Simon Taylor had their first band practice and called themselves ?Drowned?.
From the moment InMe signed to MFN, the band holed-up in rehearsals practising and crafting songs, including ?Lava Twilight? that would eventually become their debut album ?Overgrown Eden? which is due for release in September 2002. It was also during this time that the band took on the moniker of InMe after discovering that their previous band name was already taken.
It is their life-long friendship and understanding of each other that is the very key to the passion and honesty behind everything InMe does. All of their lyrics, penned by Dave McPherson, are truly from the soul, and is an emotional self-expression of everything that haunts him. This is emulated in the way that Dave uses his vocal performance, a catharsis that moves from screams and growls to soft, angelic falsettos. Enveloped in the anger, power and sheer drive of drums, bass and guitars, the 12 brilliant tracks that complete the debut album ?Overgrown Eden? is sure to achieve what InMe have striven for since their incarnation ? to have their music heard.
