Intrinsic Nature - Spring Sensation at Art At Five

Art at Five, one of Brighton’s leading contemporary art galleries, presents Intrinsic Nature, a celebration of Spring by three leading artists; Natasha Barnes, Yvonne Coomber and Andy Waite. Running from the 10th to the 25th of May, the exhibition captures the essence and enchantment of Springtime, showcasing vibrant abstracts, sublime landscapes and magical floral scenes that pay tribute to the awakening season.

Art at Five’s owner, Paola Calise, has invited the three artists to display colourful, vivid paintings infused with the essence of the organic world and the beauty of nature.

This special collection of highly emotive paintings includes free-flowing vistas and glimpses of Venetian scenes by Arundel artist Andy Waite. His colourful landscapes with blurred horizons capture abstract memories and evoke a sense of wonder.

Devon based Yvonne Coomber’s work is highly influenced by her early days on a farm on the Emerald Isle. Her sparkling floras explode in blazes of colour, conveying a childlike amazement and joy for the countryside.

South Africa’s leading artist Natasha Barnes finds inspiration in her travels, absorbing the moment and transferring her feelings back onto the canvas in bright, bold colour. Abstract in nature, her distinctive style uses strong geometric forms and textured brush marks to recall places once visited.

“We have brought together three very individual and free-spirited artists,” comments Paola Calise, “each with their own unique style, but each with an exuberant display of colour that celebrates the beauty of Spring and the natural world.”

Intrinsic Nature is a free exhibition that will run from the 10th – 25th May 2008 at Art at Five Gallery, 5 Bartholomews, Brighton, BN1 1HG.
