It’s Lilac Lark Time
Published 4th May 2010 by Matt Costello

On Sunday 9th May the Friends of Withdean Park, in conjunction with the Brighton Lions, will once again hold their Lilac Lark Festival in Withdean Park, London Road, Brighton to raise money to preserve the Lilac Collection in the Park.

The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Ann Norman, will officially open the Festival at 2.00pm

Nearly 30 stalls will have something for everyone from handicrafts to bric-a-brac, books to jewellery, plants to aromatherapy and of course, fun for everyone with a coconut shy, shooting gallery, ball in a bucket and the Brighton Lions racing pigs. Plus activities for the children, face painting, a caricaturist, a tombola and refreshments and ice cream..

For dog lovers there will be a Dog Show with registration from 12.30pm and judging from 1.00pm.

But for those who just want to relax, there will be plenty of music throughout the afternoon with jazz from the Quicksand Swing Band, Alan Mars the Celtic Harpist and singing group the Acabellas. All this and the scent of the lilacs too.

The Lilac Lark is a Brighton Festival Fringe event.
