Jimmy White Tries His Hand At The Rendezvous' Summer Breeze Poker Festival

The Summer Breeze Poker Festival at the Rendezvous Casino Brighton Marina was delighted to count among its Festival players, Mr Jimmy White, UK Snooker Champion and Winner of the Poker Millions and currently No 1 chart topper hopeful with his new single ?Minted? in aid of Children in Need.

Jimmy, who had a hard time after he lost all his money some 20 years ago, enjoys playing poker, feels he has ?come a full circle and was delighted to see some old friends in such a beautiful casino?. Jimmy is also confident that this time he could win the Snooker World Championship as he has ?settled down and is concentrating fully on his game, playing in the same venue and going from strength to strength.?

The festival at the Rendezvous has boasted total of 644 players since it began on Sunday 20th, with prize winnings totalling almost ?130,000. The final of the Main Event took place on Sunday 27th July and was won by Mr S Robson with second prize going to Mr L Porter and 3rd to Mr P Fox. The festival, sponsored by theaceclub.com, was declared a huge success by Simon Tomsett, Festival Director, who stated that poker tournaments at the Rendezvous were ?more successful than ever with each season and the casino looks forward to even greater participation in the October Harbour Lights Festival?.

Jimmy White is a strong supporter of Children in Need and in a unique way for the snooker champion he decided to turn his hand to singing in the hope that his fans would take him to the top of the Charts and help raise millions of pounds for such a good cause. Jimmy, who admits he?s not the best singer in the world, was coaxed into releasing the single when he won the Poker Millions, on condition of it?s being in aid of Children in Need. Ian Drury and the Blockheads, in anticipation of him winning the World Snooker Championship, originally released ?Minted? Jimmy?s version of which was released on 21st July and is available in Virgin and HMV now. Hopefully Jimmy won?t be the bridesmaid this time!
