Kieran Hebden (four Tet) + Stev E Reid

Kieran Hebden (four Tet) + Stev E Reid
Published 14th Mar 2007 by Chris Challis

Steve Reid joins the sole member of Four Tet Kieran Hebden, on a one off touring project. Hebden has surrounded himself with ecstatic jazz, folk music and hip-hop since his debut as Four Tet in 1998. As Four Tet, a moniker used to differentiate from his work with post-rock band Fridge, Hebden creates a palette where an ethnic-electronic sound meets hip-hop, and lush samples are arranged with neo-classical beauty.

"Four Tet is an unusual project where music sounds like folk music made by machines" - The Guardian

Steve Reid began playing professionally at age 16 recording with Martha & Vandella`s (Motown), and at the age of 17, going on to work in the Apollo Theatre house band, under the direction of Quincy Jones. Heavily influenced by African rhythms and modal harmonics of twelve tone explorations of John Coltrane, Reid has clocked up an impressive line of collaborations including Miles Davis, Peggy Lee and Dionne Warwick.

KIERAN HEBDEN (Four Tet) and STEVE REID visit Komedia on Saturday 31 March at 9pm. Tickets are ?10 available on-line or from the Box Office on 01273 647100 (booking fees apply).
