Krater Up The Chimney At Komedia
Published 5th Dec 2006 by Chris Challis
Christmas Eve and you’re staying in wrapping presents? Christmas Day just isn’t the same without the memory of a great Christmas Eve night and KRATER UP THE CHIMNEY offers the ultimate alternative to an early night and a glass of milk in bed. Joining regular MC Stephen Grant on this special night is Dan Evans, Ben Hurley and Steve Best.
Dan Evans first appeared on the comedy circuit in 1994, and over the past decade his twisted logic has delighted the nation, helping it through the dark days of the death of HRH The Queen Mother and the uncertainties of 21st century property prices. As well as playing clubs and universities throughout the UK, he is part of the sell-out Screaming Blue Murder Cabaret and Avalon Comedy Zones at the Edinburgh Fringe and has written for Rory Bremner Who Else? and The Eleven O'Clock Show.
Winner of New Zealand 's two biggest comedy awards, The New Zealand Comedy Guild Best Male Comedian in 2004 and The 2004 Oddfellows Billy T award, Ben Hurley is one of the best young stand-ups to come out of New Zealand. Now based in London, Hurley performed in eight countries in the last year including headlining clubs in Bahrain, Dubai, Australia, England and Ireland. He has also acted as a support act for top British comedians Stewart Lee and Andy Parsons.
Steve Best is rapidly building a reputation as a great visual comic, harnessing a mind-boggling array of gadgets and gags to keep his audience in stitches. Funny, frenetic and mad, his act can feature anything from blowing up a woman and eating balloons, to cutting his hand off and doing press-ups on his willy. His unique form of slapstick comedy is backed up with astounding talent; he plays the guitar like a genius and is fluent in serbo-Croatian. His UK profile has been hugely boosted by supporting some major tours, including Frank Skinner and Craig Charles. He has headlined an extensive university tour and took his own show to Edinburgh to massive critical acclaim.
KRATER UP THE CHIMNEY visits Komedia on Sunday 24 December at 8pm. Tickets are £15.
