Lara A King Wins The London Heat Of Loaded & Yazoo ‘search For A Star’ Comedy Competition

It’s true. Britain is officially funny. Lara A King originally from Brighton last night battled it out against the hottest up and coming acts in the UK to make it through to the semi finals of the ‘loaded LAFTAS with YAZOO Search for a Star’ competition. Lara is now one step closer to winning the ‘Rising Star’ trophy and the chance to perform at the prestigious loaded LAFTAS Comedy Awards on February 8th, where guests this year included Leigh Francis, Jimmy Carr, David Baddiel and Vic Reeves.

Search for a Star is an X Factor style competition, scouring the country for Britain’s funniest new talent. Lara has previously played such prestigious London venues as The Mean Fiddler, The Borderline and the Twelve Bar Club, Lara now hosts the popular monthly "Girls with Guitars" showcase in Covent Garden. She has also enjoyed success in Ireland and New York.

The winners of the regional heats will go onto the semi finals in November and those who make the cut will compete at the grand final in front of a panel of comedy experts this year held at Tattershall Castle, The Boat Show in London on the 6th December.

“I can honestly say that the loaded and YAZOO Search for a Star competition provided an ideal setting to get my name out there and launch my career with a bang. Winning last year’s Rising Star Award changed my life.” said comedian and 2010 winner, Jason Patterson.
