Leading Studio's New Competition Encourages Brighton Models

Leading Studio's New Competition Encourages Brighton Models
Published 4th Jul 2005 by Jon Silver

Brighton, 28th June 2005. Southdown Studio launches its Model of the Month Competition. Every month we'll select a winner out of all the entries we receive, and he or she will receive a free portfolio shoot. In this way we hope we'll encourage new models and put one lucky model in the spotlight.

The competition is open to both males and females, of any age (under 18s must have parental permission). They don't need to have any modelling experience, or even professional photos - they just need ambition!

To enter, the model uploads three non-nude photos, which should include one head-and-shoulders shot and one full-length shot. They don't have to be professional photos, just highly representative of the model.

The judges will be Jon Silver, Principal Photographer; John Hopkins, Studio Photography Manager; and Sylvi Dusauzay, Head of Make-Up at Southdown Studio.

Studio Photography Manager John Hopkins said "We see a lot of models but sometimes the most outstanding new talent slips through the net because they can't afford to get a portfolio done and so they don't bother taking it any further. We're hoping that this competition will foster greater participation even from those who are financially disadvantaged."

Sylvi Dusauzay, Head of Make-Up at the studio, and herself a former model, added "As a young wannabe-model I remember how difficult it was to get a good portfolio together, and to find good, reputable photographers. On many occasions I just wanted to give it all up. If I'd had the opportunity that Southdown Studio is offering today's young models I would have jumped at the chance."

The competition will run once a month, every month, until further notice. Southdown Studio would appreciate the cooperation of local media in ensuring that the local community gets to hear of the competition, and that winners of the competition are reported in the press.
