Marshmellow Festival - 24th - 26th August 2007

Marshmellow Festival - 24th - 26th August 2007
Published 6th Aug 2007 by Joe Mansfield

Taking place just off Birling Gap (nr Brighton) over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the all-new, three day camping event Marshmellow Festival boasts four live music stages featuring some of the south’s finest musical talent.  Chris Difford of Squeeze, The Drookit Dogs, Lisa Lindley-Jones, Iris and The Wolves plus many more . There will also be live DJ sets from Chambre Magique and the Clockwork Prism collective, Boudoir Lounge Burlesque and Cabaret arenas, The Oi Oi Comedy Club, thrilling fire performances, holistic healing from Big Karma, visual displays by Liquid Media and stunning Nightlight sculptures by Wasted Talent.

The organisers, Marshmellow Productions, who have been working towards the project for over two years, are confident and excited about the event which has developed a mini Glastonbury-by-the-Sea vibe. The team ensures us that “Final preparations are underway, everything is on course – we are ready for you

at the end of August!”

With a recycling team onsite and freshwater toilets/showers, the event is determined to retain a strong green ethos. Brighton & Hove Buses already run a Double Decker service to and from the site from Brighton – the organisers are encouraging festival goers to arrive via public transport in a bid to reduce the event’s carbon footprint.

The 3000 capacity family friendly festival also includes a line-up of children’s entertainment from Goefest’s Little Big Top, an eclectic mix of craft trade stalls in the Market Place, a designated BBQ area, onsite bar plus a plethora of world food kitchens to tickle your tastebuds and a late night Chai Café to help you wind down at the end of the day. Tickets (£35-£55), which are available at a number of local outlets - including Resident & Rounder Records in Brighton, The Rooms St Leonards, Substance in Hastings, Bar Blu in Eastbourne, and via the festival website (www.marshmellowfestival.co.uk) - are selling fast – don’t miss out!
