------------
Morgan Heritage Biog:
Fulfilling a desire for young musicians and artists to experience a complete sense of freedom in their musical expression and adhere to undeniable authenticity Denroy Morgan founded Heritage Music Group in 1997. Denroy Morgan, CEO, recognized long ago that artists are not afforded the freedom nor the avenue to expand, explore, and express the essence of their musical exhibition.
Denroy Morgan as well as his children, Una, Peter, Gramps, Mr. Mojo, and Lukes ( Morgan Heritage), Otiyah and Noshayah have first-handedly experienced the misguided major label record deal where they got lost while department heads made detrimental decisions regarding product direction based on cross-over appeal and marketing strategies. (In 1992 they were young and full of ideas.) MCA wanted to exploit their talents to the best of its ability and when it actually came down to the production their music was mixed with unfamiliar flavors for the Reggae community; thus, the philosophy of Morgan Heritage's livity was lost. Recognizing that grassroots markets are automatically neglected by major labels since the focus is on the world at large, unfamiliar territory for the marketing of Reggae music by the music industry at large, Denroy Morgan and Morgan Heritage conceptualized Heritage Music Group.
The HMG production team is housed at 71 Recording Studios located in Brooklyn, New York. HMG is a family-owned-and-operated business that consists of Papa Denroy Morgan (the senior producer and writer); Peter & Mr. Mojo (drum programmers, arrangers, and writers); Gramps (the vocal producer, arranger and keyboard arranger); Shy Poo also programs the drums, arranges vocals and keyboard); and Laza (also a writer). Denroy Morgan ("Salvation") and Morgan Heritage ("Protect Us Jah" and "One Calling") have launched the label with the release of their albums, and LMS released their debut LP "Reality Check" early 2000.
HMG, an independent imprint and artist development, management and production company, plans to guide up-and-coming artists from the local grass roots level, to grassroots worldwide and then to mainstream levels by letting them become comfortable within their original form and assist their growth into the next phase by first giving respect to the grassroots communities and to the artists.
HMG's music roster will include artists representing music with the objective of first establishing a name -- a firm foundation within their comfort zone. At HMG all artists are given a chance to express their musical selves from a spiritual expression in their production, song-writing, arranging and performance.
