Ms Dynamite And Akala At The Beach Club
Published 19th Mar 2007 by Obviously Media
After Ms Dynamite’s meteoric rise to fame back in 2002/3 she then took some time off from her rocketing musical career to concentrate on being a mother. Now with a son of 4 she’s back on the scene. In some senses Niomi Daley has returned a calmer, mellower person although by her alter ego Ms Dynamite still has plenty to shout about. A political dynamo her performances remain as powerful and addictive as ever – this woman has true soul and a rare Brighton performance is certainly not to be missed.
Akala “The streets gave birth to hip hop, and the streets are where it lives. But the corporate world stole rap. Now Akala’s stealing it back.” Last year’s debut album “It’s not a rumour” propelled Akala to instant fame. Akala is a young man with a lot to say and some serious wordsmithing talent to get his messages across. Winner of a MoBo in last year’s awards for bot Best Hip Hop this rising star is a perfect support to Ms Dynamite making this a genuinely spectacular Obsession.
