Old Rope, if.comedy winner Phil Nichol’s ground-breaking, chilled London club heads south to Brighton for a brand new monthly comedy night at Komedia. Hosted by Phil and Tiffany Stevenson, Old Rope is a new material night with the best circuit comics trying out jokes in the shadow of a noose. If they bomb they grab the rope and use tried and tested material to win back the audience. A brilliant chance to see comedy formed in front of your very eyes, it sells out every week in London – and we're expecting capacity crowds in Brighton too! January’s show is headlined by Pete Firman.

Born in Scotland and raised in Canada, Phil Nichol was first known as the guitar playing member of top classic musical comedy trio Corky and The Juice Pigs. A Tasmanian devil with a guitar, wickedly funny songs and superb improvisational skills, Phil's solo performances have earned him huge critical acclaim and many awards – he’s legendary for his freewheeling picaresque romps that are, frankly, confessional to the point of deranged. He has also starred in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest at the Gielgud Theatre with Christian Slater and in The Odd Couple at the Assembly Hall with Alan Davies and Bill Bailey. His last two shows at the Edinburgh Festival, Nearly Gay and The Naked Racist garnered a host of rave reviews, the latter earning him the coveted if.comedy award in 2006.

Tiffany Stevenson is an actress and stand up comic based in London. She has worked with some of the most successful names in British comedy, having guested on shows such as The Office, Absolute Power and Chambers, she has shared screen time with Ricky Gervais, Stephen Fry, Nina Wadia and John Bird.

Pete Firman is the UK's leading Comedian/Magician. A familiar face on British television, Pete has appeared as presenter, pundit and panel guest on all sorts of programmes, as well as being nominated for a Golden Rose at the Rose d'Or Festival in Montreux. His skill for fusing comedy and magic together has taken him around the world from international comedy festivals, guest television appearances and high profile private events and was most recently seen at Komedia previewing his smash Edinburgh hit Flim-Flam.
