Clubbing News
Our Front Room @ Prince Albert
Published 27th Feb 2006 by Our Front Room
In Brief:
Our front room is a downtempo concept club night with an emphasis on fun. All we ask of our guests's is that they enjoy themselves.
Description
The OFR concept is run by a collective of artists, musicians, and dj's brought together to create something relatively unique in clubland - super friendly clubnights tailored towards peoples enjoyment rather than profit.
In order to accomplish this we use a number of methods:
1) Music:
Starting early (2:00) we bombard your ears with a nice selection of downtempo tracks from a vast range of styles. Having four members djing for the OFR collective we can switch between electronica, world, broken beats, jazz...all at the flick of a crossfader. We seem however to end up with a tempo that will allow the people to move their feet to the beat by the end of the night. We are also constantly on the look out for local and new unheard talent - be it spinning demo cd's or promos - to trying to entice live acts to come and play. Oh and were all very approachable so anything you hear that night we'll be able to tell you how to get hold of a copy, or maybe even sell you one of ours!
2) Games:
We have a range of old and new board games as well as a couple of old home computers (Spectrum/Atari) in order to keep the crowds enjoyment at tip top levels. Everything from jenga to hungry frogs to pong and atari circus has put the smiles back on peoples faces before the monday blues kicks in.
3) Visuals:
We create a new DVD of found and created artworks for each night and are currently collaborating with a local artist collective called Art Club.
4) Table Top Treats:
Each week any profit from the last event is spent on treats such as popcorn, sweets and nuts; and fed back to the crowd; we'd rather they got fat on our success as its the people that make the night!
