Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me At The Komedia
Published 3rd Jan 2007 by Chris Challis
Komedia is delighted to welcome Travelling Light’s national tour of Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me, playing Sunday 21 January. This magical tale for 2 to 6 year olds has been adapted from the popular picture book by Eric Carle, who created the international best-seller The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Monica longs to play with the moon. So her father sets out on a remarkable journey to make her wish come true. With a little ingenuity and a VERY long ladder he reaches his goal - but the moon is much too big for him to carry...! Originally written for the author’s own daughter, Papa Please Get The Moon For Me excites and engages young audiences as it explores through physical storytelling, live music and dance the fascination we all have with the waxing and waning moon.
Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me was originally produced last Christmas by Bristol Old Vic and developed in association with Travelling Light. Led by the same creative team behind Traveling Light’s sell out successes Quentin Blake’s Clown and John Burningham’s Cloudland, the show promises to capture the colour and magic of Eric Carle’s illustrations.
Travelling Light specialises in creating innovative and dynamic theatre for young people. The company tours nationally and internationally, and its work is admired around the world. Its most recent production Clown was awarded the International Critics’ Prize at Bucharest Festival in October 2005.
PAPA, PLEASE GET THE MOON FOR ME visits Komedia on Sunday 21 January at 2pm. Tickets are £6/£5 conc. available on-line or from the Box Office on 01273 647100 (booking fees apply).
