Press-conference Dedicated To The President's Gala Dinner And Activity Of The Kyiv Lions Club

On November 30, the Kyiv Lions Club held a press-conference in Golden Gate Irish Pub dedicated to the President's Gala Dinner and operations of the charity organisation itself.

At the press-conference the organisers revealed the programme of the upcoming President's Gala Dinner which is an annual major charity event to be hosted on December 10 at Hyatte Regency Hotel. As a result of the evening which is going to be visited by 200 guests organisers hope to collect over $30,000 primarily through a special auction.

Martin Nunn, one of Club top members gave the presentation explaining how they are going to collect money on charity. It is suggested that people can achieve wonderful goals together if everyone chooses to give away a small part of his or her earnings or production. The cooperation with numerous foreign and Ukrainian companies including Highland park, What's on, Intercontinental, African Quest Safari, Volvo, Fairmont hotel, Carlsberg allowed the Club to create truly unique lots for the special auction of the President's Gala Dinner with all the money paid for these lots going to charitable purposes. For example, What's on magazine and InterContinental hotel together enabled the creation of a project called 'Star Weekend'. UIA together with Fairmont Hotel offered an extended weekend in Monte Carlo. One more lot is a one week safari in Kenya from Ukrainian and Kenyan Lions Clubs with 50% of the money raised going to charity projects of Lions Club in Nairobi. Mironova Gallery offered some of its pictures for the auction and Arthur Murray Dance Studio is giving its certificates. Volvo Trucks offered a one day driving truck experience on the Chaika polygon. Euro-2012 has given an official championship football and Carlsberg has offered one ticket for the Euro-2012 final match. The organisers hope to collect over $30,000 through the sale of auction lots. The money from the sale of tickets to the event will also go to charity.

Marjon Cals, President of the Kyiv Lions Club, and Dr. Voronin from the Kyiv Burn Centre told about one specific project within which KLC donated 384 thousand UAH to the Burn Centre in autumn 2010 and organised the refurbishing of the operating room No1 and replaced the ventilation system. During 2011 KLC worked to collect 900 thousand UAH more to be able to complete the full refurbishment of the clinic. As a result the Kyiv Burn Centre is now able to treat 15 people per day which is 11 people more than it used to serve. Marjon Cals also told about charitable uses on which the Kyiv Lions Club plans to spent money collected during the President's Gala Dinner.

Due to hard times we all are facing today not all but just a few people can afford making a large donation. But what if every person living in Kyiv donated 50 kopeks on charity? This way the city would collect one and a half million of hryvnias without affecting a financial well-being of each donor separately. This money can save someone's life, give shelter to the homeless or make a dream come true. With Christmas just around the corner, dreams must come true!
