Preview: Step Up @ Audio

Preview: Step Up @ Audio
Published 14th Mar 2006 by Alex Hammond

Phonic:Hoop was, for years, one of Brighton's best nights. All those happy faces not minding about the price of beer in the Enigma because the music and atmosphere more than made up for it. Oh, the memories.

Tru-Thoughts had to pull the plug on Phonic:Hoop at the end of 2005. It wasn't for lack of love though, it was because the label's profile had risen to such a level that it was proving impossible to keep their artists in Brighton on Saturday nights, when offers were coming in from all corners of the globe.

Rob Luis and company were never going to leave it at that, though, and have taken a big 'step up' to the mighty Audio. The new night promises to be the clubbing equivalent of hi-juice squash, what with a month's worth of Phonic:Hoop crammed into a tasty monthly Saturday on Marine Parade.

This Saturday sees Rob Luis and Tru-Thoughts old-boy Bonobo presiding over proceedings. Expect plenty of broken beats from the tunesome twosome and plenty of Tru-Thoughts / Zebra Traffic exclusives.

Step Up @ Audio, Saturday 18th March. ?8/7 members, NUS, concessions. 10pm - 4am.
