Retrospect, An Exhibition By Christina Sanders

Retrospect, An Exhibition By Christina Sanders
Published 15th Mar 2007 by Christina Sanders

Retrospect is the first solo show by Brighton based artist Christina Sanders. Sanders works with monoprinting to create semi-abstract ‘dreamlike’ images which have then been projected on top of one another in order to recreate the confusion that one feels when many memories and feelings come flooding back all at once. Sometimes we forget things, or choose to only remember certain aspects of times or events.

The resulting images are set of extremely interesting and original photographs. The mixture of the warmth that you get from hand done practices (monoprints) and the light from the projector with the impersonal coldness you get from a photograph results in images that seem reserved and slightly detached from the past, yet there remains a feeling of nostalgia.
