Rocket Summer At Concorde 2

Rocket Summer At Concorde 2
Published 25th Jun 2008 by Kairen Kemp

Friday 4th July Family Entertainments present Rocket Summer featuring + Melee + The Outline at Concorde 2, Brighton. Rocket Summer, hailing from Texas, have been rocking out for over 10 years now, writing some of the most original and brilliant power pop punk anthems around today.

Having toured with legends such as The Academy Is… and Cobra Starship, Rocket Summer are the brainchild of musical wunderkind Bryce Avary who started playing guitar at the age of 10, performing in his teens with his first EP at 16. Signed to Island Def Jam last year they blend everything from smart '70s piano pop, passionate punk and lo-fi indie rock into a cohesive modern rock gem.

Although Bryce records all of his own instruments for his records, he tours with a band mostly made up of high school friends. His band currently consists of Seth Brewton on guitar, Matt Bergeland on bass, and Tommy Quinn on drums. Even his wife tours with him as manager and sells merchandise at the shows.

Refreshingly, instead of singing about despair and hopelessness like his comtemporaries, Avary sings about life, love and God, and live the band knock just about every other Christian rock band around off the scale.
