Rockinghorse Calls For Volunteers
By Justyna 21st Jul 2008
Rockinghorse, the charity that makes life better for children in hospital in Sussex and beyond, is appealing for volunteers to support the launch of its fun-packed calendar of fundraising events.
The activities, which have been created to celebrate the charity's 40th birthday and include the annual Silk Ball, Pier-to-Pier Swim, Zorbing and Dragonboat Race, have generated a diverse assortment of positions. These range from event management and marketing to research and administration roles.
Rockinghorse has designed the posts to help people in their career paths by equipping them with essential skills for the modern workplace such as IT, admin and project management, at the same time as helping a great cause. Volunteers can help the charity regularly an ongoing basis, or offer their services on a one-off basis.
Volunteers are also being called on to leap into action for a once in a lifetime - Bungee on the Beach - Brighton's biggest ever, 170 foot bungee jump, which takes place on Hove Lawns on the 26 - 27 July 2008. People are needed to help hand out flyers, run hospitality areas, register jumpers and collect cash at the event.
Emma Millar, Rockinghorse's volunteer co-ordinator says: "Many people use volunteering to refine or learn new skills, gain experience in a different sector or simply see it as an opportunity to help them enter the job market. At Rockinghorse we value our volunteers very highly - whatever they can offer - because we couldn't operate without them.
"Our action-packed fundraising schedule has created a variety of posts, from running and helping out at our events, to working across a variety of functions at our head office. We welcome volunteers from across the community to help make life better for children in hospital and their families, and gain a unique experience."
For more information on how to apply to volunteer, including event registration, please contact Emma Millar on emma.millar@rockinghorse.org.uk or call 01273 730286.
