Setting Sun set standards on Brightons pub culture
Published 1st Nov 2002 by Jess Neame

Go on…I dare you to try and find a better view of the sunset in Brighton with a pub attached! While your 1st visit to The Setting Sun may have you meandering round the Hanover area, once you find the place you’ll be back for more – often! The Setting Sun is on the corner of Windmill Street at the top of the hill, directly upwards from The Ocean Rooms on Morley Street.

The Setting Sun has everything you could require – the best view of Brighton, great organic food, top staff and the best selection of drinks on offer anywhere – alcoholic and otherwise.

Food at The Setting Sun

The Setting Sun serves great food (95 – 98% organic) 6 days a week. No food on Tuesdays coz it’s quiz night! Food serving times are:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – 5pm – 9pm
Fridays: 12 – 3pm & 5pm – 9pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 1pm – 9pm
A minimum of 50% of the food on offer is vegetarian and all products are sourced, as much as possible, locally to protect the local economy and environment.

Events at The Setting Sun

Tuesdays: Setting Sun Pub Quiz
Similar format to The Full Moon on Mondays…the landlord asks a load of questions and insults the contestants…the winner wins a bottle of booze – in this case Stoly vodka…everyone laughs! Simple but it works!

Wednesdays: Various

Recently a divine band called Flute Groove graced The Setting Sun with their presence. We’re hoping they and similar other acts will return regularly to provide great tunes to eat your dinner by.

Thursdays: 50s Nostalgia Night!

Berni on the decks – Jet at the bar…a night of crooning and cocktails!

Sundays: Nordic Blonde and guests

Café Del Mar eat your heart out…Big Chill residents wind down the weekend in inimitable style.
